HopeHouse Child Dasha | Adopted at Age 5
Dasha is kind, responsible, fair, sensitive and smart. She studied well and graduated from college. She became a follower of Christ and was baptized. Recently, our Dasha got married. Things weren’t always easy for Dasha, read more about her past below.
Dasha had experienced a lot in her five years before we adopted her. Hunger, fear, loneliness. . . Her biological mother brought many men home. We do not know what was happening in front of the child, but she was very afraid of men, especially if someone smelled of alcohol.
Her biological mother left her in a shelter. When Dasha was brought to the local orphanage, she was emotionally detached and very sad. When we met Dasha in the orphanage, she had bruises under her eyes. She was very thin and appeared not to have been bathed for a long time.
We soon became as one. She became very attached to me (mother), she did not let me go anywhere, held on to my skirt in the literal sense of the word. At first, she did not trust my husband and did not look into his eyes but would rather turn away. If my husband wanted to hug me, she ran to me and screamed: “My mother!” After a short time, she began to blossom. And even her heart healed so quickly! I do not know how this can be explained, but it was as if we were more her biological parents – as if we shared one heart.
For my husband and I, it was a great joy and blessing to take care of her, to love her and to watch her grow. Dasha is also very grateful that we have each other.
