Day 8, 9 and 10 – A dirty tank in battle is unseen
May 19th, 2007 by Team MemberThe above is the translation of a bumper sticker on the back of Sergei’s car, and were I more spritually deft, I could write a lean but meaty sermon series exploring it’s many layers, How we, as Christians, are called to be different in battle, even announcing the victor while the battle still rages and skillfully weaving in John 13:35…..but, of course, I’m not and besides, that bumper sticker is, quite possibly, just the Ukrainian version of “My other car is a piece of junk too. This morning we set a few more rows of block, shared a few more laughs and asked Ira take a few more pictures before cleaning up the site for the final time. I am overjoyed to report that good progress was made, at least from our limited perspective. And just as exciting…every trowel of mud slung built not only walls but relationships as well. We are all grateful for the construction of these new friendships and the strengthening of existing ones and we pray that the residents of eagle village and anyone else that we came in contact with saw more than the obvious differences…We will all have many stories to tell upon our return, whether it be Gullible Travels, Broke Bike Mountain or Thumb And Dumber but ultimately we are just grateful for the priviledge to participate in the greatest of stories……the one thing that could take us away from our families, friends and loved ones at this moment of our lives…Like this train we are riding in now, we are all just trying to stay on the track layed out before us. Finally, to PETA and pachyderm (sp?) lovers everywhere, no elephants were harmed at any time during this trip. We thank you for your thoughts and prayers…In His service, Doc, Mudder, the Smart One, Sparky, Art, Michael, Lee, Shawn and Troy signing off…. See you soon…all our love.

I just got to catch up on your whole week’s blog tonight, all at once. I have been thinking of you and praying for you this week, and am very eager to see pictures and hear your stories when you get home. Praise God for a wonderful trip and the relationships built along with the walls that will someday be a home for many. You must be stronger than you ever knew to be able to unload 18 tons three times over. WOW! I am so thankful God caused things to work together for you to be able to go on this trip. Praise the Lord always. In my case I am praising Him that school will be out for the students in 3 days. Looking forward to seeing The Smart One and Doc again soon. Sing His praises! Tracey

I wish Troy and his team all the blessings from our lord for all they have accomplished in the Ukraine in a just a week. They accomplished great things allowing Yuri to help the orphans and their new families with a hopehouse center in Eagle village.

Hey Rhonda and Mr. Madge,
I just wanted to thank you for showing your children how very important it is to share His love with others not quite as fortunate as ourselves! The bible says “train a child in the way they should go and when they are old they will not depart”. I have no doubt that you are laying an amazing foundation for Taylor and the rest of your children in the ways of God and know that I appreciate your heart in this area!! I am praying for you and can’t wait to see your smiling faces on the beach at Panama City! Have a safe trip home and give Tay a hug for me!
In His love,
Teresa Adams

Dear Tean who have a heart for adoption,
I have a prayer request for all of you even as I am praying for the team. Our son and Daughter-in-law have been waiting for some time now for a second adoption from Colombia, S. America. We just found out that now it looks like that adoption will not hppen. It’s the same thing that is happening in other countries where the government is wanting their own people to adopt. Now we need God’s direction for what to do now. It is painful as I know that Patrick and Kasey especially understand. Thank you for your prayers as I know you understand the heart of adoptive parents. I continue to be so full of joy for what God is doing in and through you. Mary Barnes
