Day 4

May 7th, 2007 by Team Member

Our first day of is complete and everyone is worn out. The team accomplished a lot today. If fact, we finished so quickly that Yuri had to leave to go to get more materials so we would have work to do tomorrow. Did he think we came to watch or work? Our team is great, all the guys are having fun and they all work very hard. After work we went to visit the local orphanage. WOW, what a great bunch of kids. There was one in particular, she was 7 years old and her name was Sasha. She was full of life and so adorable. However, its with great embarrassment that I have to admit that when it comes to soccer – Ukraine is 1 and USA is 0. The boys were awesome, they were just toying with us and still killed us. When we got there, they wanted to play their 6 against 6 of us so we accepted the challenge and we weren’t much of a challenge. They had so much faith we would score that they let their goal keeper bring the ball down and left their goal unguarded. It was a lot of fun though and I think the kids really enjoyed beating us and that’s all that matters is that the kids had fun and can talk about the day they destroyed the funny Americans in soccer. And to be honest it was probably pretty funny to watch. ITS NOT ABOUT US. We will tell more later, we have another tough day pouring the concrete foundation tomorrow so I am signing off for now.

Doug, has Sandy mentioned to you the life size cardboard cut out that George requested to be put in the sound booth so he would feel comfortable preaching? Ha, ha. Just kidding. We miss you and will see you soon back in The States.

Tell Erina & Yuri we think of them often. Tell the Team we are praying for their safety at work and remind them they are doing the Lords work as the Bible reminds us to take care of Widows and orphans. Also, tell Yuri that some people don’t know how to tell a joke! God bless Y’All.

Another great report! Thanks for giving us details about your day. Sounds like you’ve had a great first day of work, inspite of the soccer massacre. smile.
We’re all praying for you guys and your families. Tomorrow our HH Prayer Team will come together and pray for you some more.
I was thinking today — you all are actually starting construction on the “vision” that Yuri had for HH a few years back for a Mission’s Headquarters. God is so good! It will be a place by which HH will grow and develope in ways that we haven’t even imaged yet. I believe the Lord will bless the interview process of new HH parent candidates, the adoption workshops that will be held there, the HH family retreats, the medical assistance for HH families, and the summer camps for our HH kids to equip them to go back and minister to orphans and by their story, breath the Hope of Christ into the lives of others. Thank you for giving of yourselves to begin making this “vision” a “reality”. And we are excited for those teams that will follow you and build on the foundation you are laying.
Please give Yuri and Ira our love,
    Deneen, Mark and Andrew

My email devotion today ironically was 1 Corinthians 3:10-15! It sums up what you guys are doing in Sevastopol…building on God’s foundation – while pouring one! “Did you know that you have been given the tools of an expert builder to construct God’s kingdom?” Just like God gives His attention to the details and construction of who we are…He desires no less from us. The work we do and the relationships we have in this life will be shown for what they really are. Praise Him as you continue building for His kingdom!
