sunday's update

Posted on October 14, 2007

The team arrived safely and settled into the compound. Afer a quick shower we went into nearby sov-a-stope-al (since we have no idea how to spell it, the “hooked on phonics” spelling is provided) and did some sight-seeing around the coast. On the way into town, we were able to drive by the building site. Everyone is looking forward to getting started on Monday. We had a quick dinner in town and then drove back to the compound. The Band of Brothers donated a ping-pong table and it is getting well used already. Shawn and Josh are a formitable team to beat. Ken and Chris rallied for a few victories but there were definately some questionable techniques employed.
The clouds have started to clear tonight and the amount of stars you can see is amazing. It is truely a blessing to arrive in this beautiful country and have an opportunity to contribute to such a worthy cause. We are all looking forward to reporting back to everyone on our progress this week. Keep us in your thoughts and prayers as you all are certainly in ours.

    Hi Guys,
I asked our SS class to pray for you all. You can be rest assured that they will. (You know, we old folks have nothing better to do.) It is truly a privilege to pray for you as you labor for the Lord (and I mean LABOR).
Please let Ken know that UT won yesterday by 32 points, I think. Last I checked the Titans were losing.
Please know that we are praying for you and remember that the devil doesn’t like you being there so be prepared for some challenges. But monstly remember that the Lord is smiling down at you and He will protect you and the lives you touch will never be the same.

Give my love to Ken and Yuri,
    Lee (Ken’s Mom)

    Good afternoon guys:
Just took a look at the weather and noticed you have had a cool day. The rest of the week looks good though. Hope you have had a blessed day for your first work day. Make sure Ken is keeping up with his Russian as I am sure you will be visited by some form of the local KGB. Are you all sure that having Ken as your leader was a wise decision? Keep lifting your hearts and heads to the Lord and he will make this a memorable experience for you. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
    God bless,
    Troy

    Hey Guys,
Glad you had a great Sunday. How did today go? Been praying for you all and anxious to hear your update this evening. Hope you get a minute to write. Have a wonderful rest of the day. Somebody give my brother a hug for me. (And by the way, he’s been employing “questionable techniques” since he was about . . . oh . . .3!)LOL
    With appreciation,
    Deneen

Ken and Team: it was great seeing you for lunch on Saturday. We had a great trip home and we are praying for you all. As the time progressed last week we could feel God working in us and for the family. I am glad you are enjoying the ping-pong table. Be safe on top of that house!!

Our Mission

HopeHouse International exists so that Orphans in Ukraine can become adopted by Christian couples within their country. Adequate housing is a barrier for most citizens, and it is a government prerequisite for adoption. HopeHouse International enables adoptions by addressing adequate housing needs which result in three or more children being given a family and a future.
