Work is not a wolf

Posted on May 16, 2007

Good news! Jim finally has a nickname…”The Smart One”…and it wasn’t even given to him by Sparky, Doc or Mudder. Still no nicknames for the Nashville guys…at least nothing we can blog. Joe should be about fed up with Troy by now…but somehow he’s not. Today we built up the foundation to level and began work a wall for the main compound. Though we know that God, mercifully, does not keep score, Sergei gave the thumbs up to the Tennessee section of the wall while the Florida section met with a non-committal shrug. Tennessee 1 Florida 0, and how often does that happen. Art and Michael…..representing! In the afternoon we unloaded our first truckload of block…18 tons…we laughed to keep from crying…over future chiropractic co-payments. It was a long, full, rich day…I want to ask you all to pray for and praise God for Ira…she has the unenviable and unforgiving job of wrangling and disciplining the nine of us. I will have fond memories of being on the receiving end of her fantastic wit and humor. Tonight she took us to Yalta for a “peaceful” dinner. Afterwards, Shawn showed off his “shrewd” money management skills by trading 20 grivna for 1 in return. Way to go Shawn. Now sleep comes quickly unless your roommate wants to stay up talking about how great his wife is…Your comments bring us joy and motivation…keep them coming. All our love

Everyone is asking if I have talked to you and EVERYONE is so excited about you Florida boys and send lots of love, prayers, and support. The kids wanted me to let you know how much they love and miss you(REALLY!!) Thank all of you for working so hard! With each block is a jewel in your crown!!
    Blessings,

Glad to hear things are going so great. Keep up the good work. We’re praying for you all.

btw. if by chance a trip to the Panorama comes your way let me know. Some of our guys picked up a small yellow booklet about Sevastopol at the exit table and it wound up containing lots and lots of information on the entire region. I’d like to coerce one of you to pick me up one. If not, no biggie. And of course I’ll pay you for the book and handling charges incurred if you do find one.
    Thanks,
    Larry

    Hi Boys,
Michael, Art, and Lee way to show up the Florida boys, just don’t get too big of a head, you have to fit on the airplane to come back home to us. I am glad to hear that all is going well. Know that you are being prayed for and we can not wait for you to come back home. Continue to be a witness in all that you do.

    P.S. Don’t forget my chocolate.

Just to keep you updated on current events: Red Wings lead their series 2-1 and the Senators are ahead 3-0, Studio 60 got cancelled, Kenny Chesney is still entertainer of the year, and most importantly, Big Cheap Fun still holds a 2 point lead over Repeats – so in other words, you’re having much more fun there! It was great hearing from you and the blog is fantastic… keep up the good work in all that you’re doing! Praying for you always… Love and miss you…

Have enjoyed reading your blog to keep up on how things are going. John Geissler, CEO of Agape Distribution (where I volunteer 2 days a week) and Joseph Ministries spends time in different parts of the soviet countries including the Ukraine–in fact came back from there just a few weeks ago–he always has stories to tell, as I’m sure you guys will. Spent time with the Lady Misfits last night at Cindy’s eating and playing Cut-Throat Uno. Was nice getting to know Cindy’s friends a little better. Will continue to pray for you guys until you are home safe and sound on Sunday night.

Sounds like you all are having a great time! I can’t wait to see the pictures and hear all the stories from your trip. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the phone calls, they are greatly appreciated. Art – Fred called me yesterday just to check in, that was very sweet of him. Jordan and Jill are very excited to come and visit.
Y’all are not missing much back here, except Misfits tonight but the other 2 will represent the guys.
Love you, praying for you, and very excited to see you on Sunday. :0)

Guys, your Forest Hill’s friends in Nashville are lifting you up in prayer. We pray God’s protection on you. His face is turned toward you as you minister to these families and children in Ukraine. God bless you.

Nice to see that we are the parents of “the smart one’. I have his motorcycle all fixed up, and his mother and I looking forward to his safe return.

Our Mission

HopeHouse International exists so that Orphans in Ukraine can become adopted by Christian couples within their country. Adequate housing is a barrier for most citizens, and it is a government prerequisite for adoption. HopeHouse International enables adoptions by addressing adequate housing needs which result in three or more children being given a family and a future.
